The former president of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFS), Ivan Slavkov, has passed away at the age of 70.
Born on 11 May 1940 in Sofia, Ivan Slavkov was elected president of the BFS in 1995 before being re-elected in 2001. He was succeeded in 2005 by the present incumbent Borislav Mihaylov.
Mr Slavkov was at the helm of Bulgarian football for the country's most recent appearances in major final rounds – EURO '96 in England, the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France and UEFA EURO 2004 in Portugal.
