FH Hafnarfjördur will begin their league campaign in good heart after completing a 3-0 Icelandic Super Cup victory against champions Breidablik on Saturday.
The Icelandic Cup holders dominated the match, which was played at Kórinn's indoor sports hall, as Pétur Vidarsson (43), captain Matthías Vilhjálmsson (64) and Hannes Th. Sigurdsson (75) grabbed the goals that secured the pre-season silverware.
Sigurdsson, who has made 13 appearances for Iceland, was delighted at making a scoring debut after three seasons with Swedish side GIF Sundsvall. "I have finally won a medal," said the 28-year-old, who has had an eight-year wait since last winning a trophy - the league title - with the same side.
FH begin the league season at Valur Reykjavík on 2 May, the day after Breidablik host KR Reykjavík in an evening kick-off.
