FC København secured a ninth Danish Super League title in record time, winning 2-1 at Lyngby BK after their closest challenges Odense BK handed them the crown with a defeat by the same scoreline at home against FC Nordsjælland.
København have won 21 of their 26 league games, with four draws and only one loss. They went behind to struggling Lyngby after only seven minutes but soon recovered the initiative, reversing the deficit with goals in either half from Christián Bolaños and leading scorer Dame N'Doye. By winning the title with seven matches remaining, Ståle Solbakken's side set a new record in Denmark.
The Norwegian coach, who has decided to leave the club at the end of the season, said: "It was great to get it settled. We knew before kick-off that we were champions, and we lacked a bit of focus in the first 15 minutes, but after that we took control. Now we have a duty to the other teams in the league to keep our focus in our last seven matches."
FCK captain William Kvist was glad to be able to get the title out of the way, explaining: "It was great to do it at the first opportunity rather than having to wait. We still have a number of matches left, though, so we will wait until after the last match to celebrate."
