Stoke City FC reached the FA Cup final for the first time in their history thanks to an emphatic victory against Bolton Wanderers FC at Wembley.
Bolton, five points ahead of their opponents in the Premier League, were three goals down by half-time. Without the cup-tied Daniel Sturridge − who has scored six goals in eight games while on loan from Chelsea FC − their hopes of a first FA Cup showpiece since 1958 began to unravel when Matthew Etherington (11) finished powerfully after seizing on Paul Robinson's misplaced pass.
Goals from Roberth Huth (17) and Kenwyne Jones (30), a neat finish past Jussi Jääskeläinen, were added to after the break by Jonathan Walters (68, 81). The margin of victory is the biggest in the last four of the competition since Wolverhampton Wanderers FC beat Grimsby Town FC by the same score in 1939. Stoke meet Manchester City FC, who defeated Manchester United FC on Saturday, in the final on 14 May.
