AC Milan moved a step closer to the Serie A crown with a 3-0 triumph against UC Sampdoria, with city rivals and pursuers FC Internazionale Milano beaten 2-0 at Parma FC.

Milan took 20 minutes to establish the lead against Sampdoria as Clarence Seedorf scored with a low free-kick into the far corner, and they doubled their advantage when Antonio Cassano converted from the penalty spot nine minutes after the interval. It then fell to Robinho to round off the scoring just after the hour-mark, the Brazil forward heading in Cassano's deflected cross as the Rossoneri moved six points clear of SSC Napoli, who host Udinese Calcio on Sunday.

Two points behind Napoli, Inter suffered a blow to their title defence due to a fourth loss in five games in all competitions. Eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in midweek, Leonardo's men were beaten by goals from Sebastian Giovinco (35) and Amauri (85). Victory lifted Parma to 15th, four points above the drop zone.

Also on Saturday, AS Roma's hopes of seizing a UEFA Champions League qualifying place took a dent when they were undone 3-2 at home by US Città di Palermo. The capital side lie four points shy of fourth-placed S.S. Lazio, in action at Calcio Catania on Sunday.
