An added-time winner against Olympique de Marseille earned LOSC Lille Métropole a dramatic 2-1 win last weekend and Rudi Garcia's charges repeated the trick at home to Valenciennes FC on Sunday.
The game seemed headed for a draw after Grégory Pujol (59) had cancelled out Moussa Sow's 18th league goal of the season (39). Eden Hazard struck with just seconds left, though, to earn his side the three points that represent Lille's advantage over Stade Rennais FC at the Ligue 1 summit.
At the other end of the table, AS Monaco FC moved out of the bottom three with a hard-fought win against FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Two of Adriano's four strikes so far this season have been own goals but coach Laurent Banide will be particularly grateful the Brazilian defender's 21st-minute goal went in at the right end as his side now lie above third-bottom AJ Auxerre on goal difference.
In the late match Paris Saint-Germain FC missed out on the opportunity to move to within a point of fourth-placed Marseille, despite being two goals up at half-time against Montpelier Hérault FC. Olivier Giroud struck twice (47, 59)to earn the visitors a 2-2 draw.
