Defender Tim Cornelisse will join Dutch titleholders FC Twente on a free transfer this summer when his contract with their Eredivisie rivals FC Utrecht expires.
Cornelisse, 32, has agreed a two-year deal with Twente, who take on Villarreal CF in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals. The former FC Oss, RKC Waalwijk and Vitesse right-back arrived at Utrecht at the start of the 2004/05 season, and has scored 11 goals in 178 league games for the club.
"When an offer from a team like Twente comes along, you do not need to think too long about it," said Cornelisse, whose Utrecht side are eighth in the Dutch table, six places behind reigning champions Twente. The Tukkers' coach Michel Preud'homme added: "Tim is a reliable defender with attacking skills – a player who will fit in perfectly at Twente."
