Blackburn Rovers FC moved from 12th to seventh in the Premier League courtesy of a 2-0 home victory against West Bromwich Albion FC.
Blackburn, whose manager Steve Kean committed his future to the club until June 2013 this week, are now only seven points adrift of the top four. They nonetheless took the lead in somewhat fortuitous circumstances at Ewood Park, Gabriel Tamaş inadvertently heading David Dunn's cross into his own net four minutes from half-time.
The hosts then doubled their advantage within two minutes of the restart as David Hoilett fired into the roof of the net. Roberto Di Matteo's West Brom have now lost six of their last seven league fixtures and lie 15th, three points clear of the relegation zone.
