Slobodan Krčmarević has resigned after just one month in charge at Anorthosis Famagusta FC, with the former Serbia Under-21 coach unable to arrest the club's spiralling fortunes since replacing Guillermo Ángel Hoyos.

The 45-year-old, a midfielder at Anorthosis between 1996 and 98, tendered his resignation following a 3-1 loss at APOP/Kinyras Peyias FC which left his side sixth in the 14-team table without a win in nine league games. They are 19 points adrift of runaway leaders APOEL FC. "After performances like that, the coach has to take the blame," said the former OFK Beograd and Apollon Limassol FC boss.

Anorthosis have been going through a lean period since becoming the first Cypriot side to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage in 2008/09. They have not won a trophy since, and lost 6-1 on aggregate against PFC CSKA Moskva in this season's UEFA Europa League play-offs.
