Bayer 04 Leverkusen moved into second in the Bundesliga thanks to a 1-0 win at FC St Pauli. Renato Augusto's strike nine minutes from time sealed a fifth away win of the season for Jupp Heynckes' side, who are level on points with 1. FSV Mainz 05, beaten 1-0 by Hannover 96.

Eintracht Frankfurt, who drew 0-0 with SV Werder Bremen, are four points further back in fourth. At the other end, 1. FC Köln replaced opponents VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach at the foot of the table following a 4-0 home defeat, while VfB Stuttgart remain two places above the relegation zone after squandering a 3-0 lead at 1. FC Kaiserslauten.

Arthur Boka (19), Cacau (32) and Christian Gentner (50) put Die Schwaben in control only for Ilian Micanski (58), Ivo Iličević (76) and Mathias Abel (78) to complete a recovery that keeps them level on points with Stuttgart. Third-bottom FC Schalke needed a comeback of their own against VfL Wolfsburg, who went 2-0 up before Edu (39) and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (75) earned the visitors a point.

Borussia Dortmund remain the team to catch after stealing seven points clear at the top with a 2-0 win against Hamburger SV on Friday.
