FC Girondins de Bordeaux have bolstered their strike force with the loan signing of Niger international Maazou Moussa from Russian club PFC CSKA Moskva.

Moussa, who turned 22 on Wednesday, has signed on for a season and Bordeaux have the option of a permanent deal for the forward who spent the second half of last term in France on loan at AS Monaco FC. Indeed the first goal he scored after arriving from CSKA came against Bordeaux in a 2-0 French Cup victory at the Stade Chaban-Delmas in February. That was one of nine goals he registered for Monaco – including a last-minute winner in the French Cup semi-final against RC Lens.

Bordeaux coach Jean Tigana will hope the powerful pacy attacker will help fill the void left by Marouane Chamakh's departure for Arsenal FC. Maazou started out in youth teams in Niger and Togo before moving to Belgian side KSC Lokeren OV in 2008. He caught the eye with 14 goals in 23 league outings in the 2008/09 campaign before heading to CSKA.
