Sevilla FC have a firm grip on the Spanish Super Cup after a 3-1 defeat of FC Barcelona in the first leg at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
Zlatan Ibrahimović put a Barça side featuring four players from their B team ahead in the 20th minute, toe poking a measured pass from Maxwell past Andrés Palop. It remained that way until just after the hour mark when Luís Fabiano ran on to Luca Cigarini's through ball and shot through the legs of goalkeeper Miño.
Frédéric Kanouté put Los Rojiblancos in front 17 minutes from time, turning the ball into the far corner with his outstretched left leg after Álvaro Negredo's cross from the right. The Mali striker ensured last season's Copa del Rey winners of a two-goal lead to defend in the return next weekend when he headed in a cross from the left with ten minutes to play.
