Savićević pushes Montenegro development

Football Federation of Montenegro (FSCG) president, Dejan Savićević, promised that the association would continue to dedicate its energies towards improving the country's footballing infrastructure.

At the FSCG annual general meeting, Savićević explained that the organisation had invested more than €1.8m in the preceding 12 months, and confirmed that this approach would continue during the year ahead.

"Thanks to funds obtained through UEFA programmes and through our own sponsorship deals, the Football Federation of Montenegro managed to build several artificial turf training pitches in Podgorica, Cetinje, Pljevlja, Niksic and Kotor. We will try as hard as we can to install the same number of pitches in other areas of Montenegro. This development will not only give our clubs better training conditions, but also provide a solid basis for youth football," former AC Milan player Savićević said.

Another key area for improvement that he highlighted was coach education, especially in clubs' youth departments. "I must stress this to the clubs: please encourage your coaches to learn more about modern football trends and the things they don't know. Tell them it is not a bad thing to ask for help when they need it. Our school for coaches will help them to broaden their horizons and perspectives in understanding and teaching football, but it is up to them to use this tool to their best advantage. This is essential for youth team coaches."
