UEFA president Michel Platini was taken to a Johannesburg hospital as a precautionary measure after fainting on Friday evening.

UEFA and FIFA have issued the following statement related to UEFA president Michel Platini.

UEFA president Michel Platini fainted on Friday evening after feeling unwell following flu symptoms in the past days. Mr Platini was taken to a Johannesburg hospital for some tests.

Contrary to some media reports, no signs of any heart-related problems have been found and Mr Platini will be kept overnight for observation as a precautionary measure.
