Genoa CFC have signed Portugal's FIFA World Cup goalkeeper Eduardo and Hungarian international striker Gergely Rudolf.
SC Braga announced that they have received €4.5m for the 27-year-old Eduardo while retaining 25% of his licence. A Braga youth product, Eduardo, who will take the place of the AC Milan-bound Marco Amelia, made his breakthrough with loans at SC Beira-Mar and Vitória FC, the club he helped win the 2007/08 Portuguese League Cup.
He returned to Braga the following season and has been ever-present for their previous two UEFA Europa League and Liga campaigns. Last term he helped them to a club best second place, earning a UEFA Champions League third qualifying round berth.
Making his senior Portugal debut against Finland on 11 February 2009, Eduardo then displaced Quim – who this summer joined Braga – as starter. He aided Carlos Queiroz's side to the World Cup round of 16, playing excellently in the 1-0 loss to Spain, David Villa scoring the only goal Eduardo conceded in South Africa.
Rudolf, meanwhile, arrives on undisclosed terms. The 25-year-old former AS Nancy-Lorraine forward moves to Italy on the back of a two-season spell with Debreceni VSC in his homeland which yielded two league titles and 24 goals in 52 top-flight appearances.
