FC Twente have signed Swedish international Emir Bajrami from IF Elfsborg for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has agreed a four-year contract with the Dutch title winners, who will make their UEFA Champions League group stage debut next season. The versatile Bajrami has played 83 league games for Elfsborg, scoring 14 goals, since making his Allsvenskan debut for the club in 2006.
He was a mainstay of Sweden's Under-21 side before stepping up for his senior debut earlier this year. "Twente are a side that keep on growing," Bajrami said. "They are Dutch champions and have qualified for the Champions League – as a kid it was my dream to play on that stage." Twente announced on Monday that Michel Preud'homme would be Steve McClaren's successor as the club's head coach.
