FC Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito has agreed a one-year contract extension at the club which keeps him at the Liga champions until 2012.
The 29-year-old's new deal also contains an option for a further year at the club. Milito sustained a serious knee injury in the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Manchester United FC two years ago which kept him out of the entire 2008/09 campaign. However, he has made 11 league appearances since his return to the first team in January and said he was "immensely happy" after putting pen to paper.
"Having suffered all that I have in recent times this represents a glorious moment," said the Argentinian international, who joined Barcelona from from Real Zaragoza in 2007. "I've always said that this is the best group of players I've ever been with. I'm now going on my holidays with the huge satisfaction of having won a Liga title and being in a good state of fitness." Eliminated in this season's semi-finals, Barcelona will enter the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League in the group stage.
