Luigi Delneri has resigned as coach of UC Sampdoria a day after securing the Blucerchiati a place in next season's UEFA Champions League play-offs.
The Genoa outfit finished fourth in Serie A following the final round of matches on Sunday, maintaining their two-point advantage over US Città di Palermo with a 1-0 home win against SSC Napoli. Delneri, 59, joined Sampdoria last summer from Atalanta BC. A Sampdoria statement read: "The club wants to thank the coach and his assistants for their professionalism and the hard work they did throughout the season, and wants to wish them all the best for their future career."
