Milito thrilled with Inter finish

FC Internazionale Milano forward Diego Milito described the goal at AC Siena which sealed the 18th Scudetto for the Nerazzurri as the most important of his life, while José Mourinho defined this league triumph as the most difficult of his career.

After winning the Coppa Italia, Inter needed victory at Siena to keep AS Roma at arm's length on the final day of Serie A action, and the UEFA Champions League finalists completed their job thanks to Milito's 22nd goal of the campaign in the 57th minute. "This is the most important goal of my career," the 30-year-old Argentinian said. "We are happy and we deserved it. I missed a few chances today, but fortunately that one went in."

For club president Massimo Moratti, the result proved the perfect way to cap his 65th birthday, but while he gave Mourinho credit for his side's success, he expressed his hope that this evening's celebrations in the Piazza del Duomo will not be the last of the season. Inter can now clinch a historic treble when they take on FC Bayern München in Saturday's UEFA Champions League final. "This is the Scudetto of Mourinho," the Inter president said. "But now we must focus on the UEFA Champions League final in Madrid because we have to complete the job."

That sentiment was echoed by Nerazzurri captain Javier Zanetti, who set up Milito's goal in what was his 699th game for the club. "We must celebrate this fifth Scudetto in a row," the 36-year-old said. "We congratulate Roma because they were very tough opponents until the last game of the season, but our team has once again proved its strength. Now our minds must switch immediately to Madrid. A historic game awaits us."

Mourinho is also well aware of the challenge ahead and admitted that the Santiago Bernabéu showpiece could be his last game as Inter coach. "This has been the most difficult title of my career as it's the first time my side won it on the last day of the season, with everything at risk until the very last minute of the game," the former FC Porto and Chelsea FC trainer said. "This could be a historic week for Inter. I will do my best to prepare the team in the best possible way for the final in Madrid, then I will take a few days off to decide what is best for me and my work because I haven't had time to do that yet."
