PFC Litex Lovech have been crowned Bulgarian champions for the third time following a 3-0 success at PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv 1936.
Forward Wilfried Niflore opened the scoring after 39 minutes and Madureira made it 2-0 two minutes after the break, before Niflore scored his second nine minutes from time to cement a victory that maintained Litex's now unassailable seven-point lead over PFC CSKA Sofia. Their closest pursuers beat third-placed PFC Lokomotiv Sofia 5-1 but, with only two games remaining, could not prevent Litex adding to the titles they won in 1997/98 and 1998/99.
"The players fully deserve the success," said coach Angel Chervenkov, who will now take his team into next season's UEFA Champions League second qualifying round. "I am more than satisfied with our performances throughout the season. It was not an easy season for us, but we all gave our best and we were thoroughly professional. The title is more than deserved. The UEFA Champions League is a long way off as we still have two more league games."
