Panathinaikos FC will meet Aris Thessaloniki FC in the Greek Cup final at Athens's Olympic stadium on 24 April after the Greens completed a 3-1 aggregate win with a 0-0 semi-final draw at PAS Giannina on Wednesday.
Aris secured their place in the final two weeks ago, eliminating FC Kavala 4-2 over two legs. Aris and Panathinaikos last met in a final in 1940, with a 3-1 victory giving the capital side the first of their 16 Greek Cups. The Thessalonika side have played in seven finals, but have only one win to their name, the 1970 edition in which they beat local rivals PAOK FC 1-0. Panathinaikos need just a point from their final two top-flight games to take the league title, and are eager to claim their first trophy since 2003/04, when they also won the double.
