There was high drama in the French Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday as amateur side US Quevilly eliminated US Boulogne, while Claude Makelele converted the winning penalty in a shoot-out victory for Paris Saint-Germain FC away to AJ Auxerre.

Quevilly, from the fourth tier, proved their scalp of Stade Rennais FC in the previous round was no fluke as they comfortably accounted for another Ligue 1 team. Speaking after a 3-1 win, coach Régis Brouard said: "We scored three three goals from open play. We put a lot of energy into preparing for this game so I don't even know when the semi-finals will be played."

The answer is 13/14 April, with the draw to take place on Sunday. Makelele's PSG will be in it after a 6-5 success on penalties followed a 0-0 draw in Auxerre. The other quarter-finals – AS Monaco FC v FC Sochaux-Montbéliard and RC Lens v AS Saint-Etienne – will be played on Wednesday. The competition concludes at Stade de France on 1 May.
