Former Sweden striker Henrik Larsson is to take on his first coaching role with second-tier side Landskrona BoIS just seven weeks after ending his playing career.
Aims
The 38-year-old has signed a 12-month contract with the club that finished eighth in the Superettan in 2009. "I will try to make us play attractive, attacking football, the way I've always tried to play myself," Larsson told a well-attended press conference in Landskrona. "Obviously I understand that if I want to keep my job I need results."
Inspiration
Larsson scored 430 goals in 767 club appearances in his playing career, winning major honours with Feyenoord, Celtic FC, FC Barcelona, Manchester United FC and Helsingborgs IF, where he bowed out on 28 October after a 2-0 loss to Djurgårdens IF. Capped 106 times by Sweden, scoring 37 goals, Larsson is looking to those he served as a player as inspiration as he attempts to lead Landskrona back to the Allsvenskan, from where they were relegated in 2005. "Martin O'Neill, Frank Rijkaard, Alex Ferguson, Wim Janssen and Bo Nilsson are all role models," he said. "I'll try to take the best from each and shape my own form of leadership."
