Greek Super League side Larissa FC have confirmed that the club's 31-year-old Mexican international striker Antonio De Nigris died of a suspected heart attack early on Monday.
Larissa statement
"The Larissa family mourns the tragic loss of Antonio De Nigris," read a club statement. "It is with deep sorrow that the management, coaches, players and directors of the club express their condolences to his family, particularly his wife Sonia and five-year-old daughter Miranda. An autopsy will be held at the University Hospital in Larissa to determine the precise cause of death." De Nigris had played seven league games for Larissa since a summer move from MKE Ankaragücü of Turkey, where he also previously represented Gaziantepspor and Ankaraspor AŞ. The former CF Monterrey forward had a loan spell in Spanish football with Villarreal CF during the 2002/03 campaign.
