FC Internazionale Milano produced a superb 5-0 win at Genoa CFC to open up a three-point lead at the top of Serie A while Juventus and ACF Fiorentina drew 1-1.
Early goal
Inter began the weekend level on points with UC Sampdoria, who visit S.S. Lazio on Sunday, and they moved out in front with an impressive display at fifth-placed Genoa. Esteban Cambiasso broke the deadlock six minutes in when his shot deflected in off Emiliano Moretti. The visitors continued to dominate and Mario Balotelli doubled the lead just after the half-hour after running on to Cambiasso's pass.
Stanković stunner
The always-threatening Dejan Stanković then made it three in first-half stoppage time, volleying Marco Amelia's clearance straight back over the Genoa goalkeeper's head from the halfway line. To make matters worse for Genoa, Amelia's understudy Alessio Scarpi was sent off from the bench as the half-time whistle went, and on 66 minutes Patrick Vieira made it four after being set up by Wesley Sneijder. Five minutes later, Maicon got in on the act with a cool finish following clever work from Sulley Muntari.
Contenders draw
Juve and Fiorentina remain locked in third place but are four points adrift of Inter following their draw in Saturday's other game. Juan Vargas put the Viola ahead early on following a ball from Stevan Jovetić, but Amauri equalised in the 19th minute as he turned in Vincenzo Iaquinta's pass.
