Alex Muscat scored the only goal as Sliema Wanderers FC got the better of champions Hibernians FC in the Maltese Super Cup, played in temperatures of around 40C at the National Stadium in Ta'Qali.

'Five-star performance'
Despite being reduced to ten men by the 25th-minute dismissal of Mark Scerri, the FA Trophy holders secured their third Super Cup, with utility player Muscat beating namesake Mario Muscat in the Hibernians goal with a lob from outside the area after 76 minutes. "Being a player down for over an hour makes us even more satisfied about the way we controlled the match and our five-star performance," said Sliema captain Ivan Woods. "Obviously the win augurs well for the coming season."
