Injuries force finals squad changes

Ukraine and France have both been forced into late changes to their UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ squads.

Teenager called
For Ukraine, midfielder Svitlana Vanyushkina is injured and in her place comes 16-year-old striker Oksana Yakovyshyn, also of FC Legend Chernigov. She impressed in last season's UEFA European Under-17 Championship when she was the top scorer in qualifying with ten goals, though Ukraine did not make the four-team finals. Ukraine begin their campaign in Turku on Sunday against the Netherlands and also meet Denmark and the hosts.

Goalkeeping change
Meanwhile, having replaced right-back Sandrine Dusang with Laure Lepailleur last week, France's third-string goalkeeper Bérangère Sapowicz now has a thigh problem, meaning a call-up for Laëtitia Stribick-Buerkel, who won her sole senior cap in a 0-0 draw with Canada in March 2008. Stribick-Buerkel was the back-up to current senior first-choice Sarah Bouhaddi when France won the 2003 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship under the coach who will lead them in Finland, Bruno Bini. France open their Group B campaign next Monday against Iceland with games against Norway and Germany to come.
