Twente achievement
The 26-year-old left-back, who was under contract in Enschede until the summer of 2010, has signed a four-year deal with the Bundesliga heavyweights. He links up with countryman and coach Louis van Gaal who moved to Bayern last month after leading AZ Alkmaar to the Dutch title. Twente, the club Braafheid joined from FC Utrecht in January 2007 and for whom he played 76 Eredivisie matches, were second in the championship race, gaining a UEFA Champions League third qualifying round place. The Surinam-born player made his Netherlands debut on 11 February in a friendly draw against Tunisia, and was in the Oranje squad that qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Saturday.
