The New Caledonia-born Kombouaré, who played alongside Le Guen as a PSG defender in the early 1990s, earned promotion with Valenciennes as Ligue 2 champions in 2006 and has maintained their place in the top division since. Le Guen, also 45, was told earlier this month that his expiring contract would not be renewed, but will bequeath his successor a place in the UEFA Europa League for next season if PSG remain in the top five after their final game of the season against AS Monaco FC on Saturday.
