Hibernians FC have secured their tenth Maltese title after a goalless draw with second-placed Valletta FC left them two points clear at the end of the Premier League season.
Full crowd
Excellent weather and a full crowd greeted the two sides vying for honours at Ta'Qali Stadium, with titleholders Valletta requiring a victory to leapfrog their opponents at the final hurdle. It was not to be, however, as Hibernians emerged unscathed from the encounter to celebrate their first league crown since 2001/02.
Tactical changes
Hibernians coach Mark Miller, who made some shrewd tactical changes in the match to keep his side in pole position, said: "This title means a lot to Hibernians FC in general, to everyone who has worked so hard to get the result we have achieved today." Youngsters Edward Herrera and Clayton Failla could not hide their delight, meanwhile, adding: "It means everything to us - absolutely everything in life."
