With the dust barely settled on their maiden Bundesliga triumph, VfL Wolfsburg have already begun preparing for next season after unveiling their first signing of the summer: Danish international Thomas Kahlenberg.
European appeal
The midfielder has signed a four-year deal with the German side after the Wolves agreed an undisclosed fee with French outfit AJ Auxerre, the 26-year-old admitting the lure of UEFA Champions League football helped make his mind up. "VfL have a very good team," said the former Brøndby IF man. "I'm hoping to contribute to ensuring the club are established as leading lights in the Bundesliga and make a good impression in the Champions League." Wolfsburg managing director Jürgen Marbach added: "We have a strong squad that we want to complement with further top players. Kahlenberg will contribute to the further development of the team." The player has returned to France, however, and will be available for Auxerre's final match of the season at FC Nantes on Saturday.
