Forty-one European nations were involved in today's draw for 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying in Nyon, with France and Iceland set to renew ties having also been drawn together at UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™.
Hosts Germany
Teams will compete in eight groups from 19/20 September 2009 until 25 August 2010. The winners of the pools will progress to the play-offs on 11/12 and 15/16 September 2010, producing four qualifiers for the finals to joins the hosts and holders, Germany. The defeated sides will then compete in further play-offs for a chance to meet a team from the CONCACAF region for a further finals berth from 26 June until 17 July 2011.
EURO
Prior to the start of qualifying, holders Germany along with Norway, Sweden, England, Denmark, Iceland, the Netherlands, Ukraine, France, Russia, Italy plus hosts Finland compete at UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ from 23 August until 10 September.
