Juventus climbed back up to second in Serie A after substitute Christian Poulsen struck a last-gasp winner to earn the ten-man Bianconeri a 2-1 victory at Calcio Catania while ACF Fiorentina moved into fourth by beating S.S. Lazio 1-0.

Iaquinta dismissal
Vincenzo Iaquinta headed Juve in front with just ten minutes on the clock but after picking up two yellow cards in the next 90 seconds he was promptly sent off. That gave the home side hope and they equalised five minutes into the second half, Takayuki Morimoto burying the rebound after Gianluigi Buffon had saved Giuseppe Mascara's header. A draw would have left Claudio Ranieri's men nine points behind pacesetters FC Internazionale Milano but they avoided that fate when Poulsen collected the ball from Amauri and scored in added time.

Vučinić double
Fiorentina also owed their win to a late goal, Alberto Gilardino finding the back of the net with a minute remaining, after Lazio had lost Lorenzo De Silvestri to a first-half sending-off. AS Roma join Genoa CFC on 40 points, one behind the Viola, after Mirko Vučinić registered with two efforts in the 3-0 success for the capital club in the meeting of those two sides. US Città di Palermo leapt to seventh, and above their opponents, after a 2-1 win against SSC Napoli.

Basement battle
Cagliari Calcio's winning streak is over after they succumbed to a 1-0 loss at home against Atalanta BC. The Sardinian side had triumphed in their previous four games but slipped to ninth following Luca Cigarini's 66th-minute clincher, having lost Luis Diego López to a 39th-minute red card. Elsewhere, strugglers Torino FC and AC Chievo Verona had to settle for a 1-1 draw, Udinese Calcio defeated Bologna FC 1-0 and UC Sampdoria drew 2-2 with AC Siena.
