England 4-1 Finland
A three-goal burst late in the first half set England up for victory in the second of two friendlies against UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ hosts Finland in Cyprus.
England goals
Finland came back from two goals behind to draw 2-2 on Monday, and today's match seemed to be heading level going into the break when England captain Faye White took advantage of a defensive slip to break the deadlock on 42 minutes. Emily Westwood added a second from close range and there was still time before the interval for Kelly Smith to convert a penalty. Rachel Yankey made it four in the second half before Annica Sjölund's consolation.
Coach reflects
Defeated coach Michael Käld said: "Three goals one after another and all of them because of our mistakes – that irritates me. However, the second half was much better. We have had seven tough training sessions [in Cyprus] and this was the second match here. At this stage of the season it is understandable that it affected our game." His team continue their preparations for the summer's EURO finals in the Algarve Cup from 4 to 11 March, when Germany, Sweden and China are in Finland's group.
