KR Reykjavík defeated Fjölnir 1-0 in Saturday's Icelandic Cup final thanks to an 88th-minute own goal from Kristján Hauksson.

Patience
The match at the national stadium in Laugardalur was decided when Hauksson unwittingly deflected an Óskar Örn Hauksson shot into his own net. KR coach Logi Ólafsson said: "We were the stronger team, missed some good chances, but remained patient and eventually got the victory." The club's success in the season-closing encounter brought KR their 11th Icelandic Cup in 13 attempts, and their first since 1999. They finished the league campaign in fourth place, with Fjölnir sixth.
