Lithuanian champions FBK Kaunas defeated Latvia's Skonto FC 2-1 to win the second Baltic League tournament.

Record crowd
In the final match to be staged at the Skonto Stadium in Riga, Kaunas took the lead after 24 minutes when Luka Aničič beat Germans Malins in the Skonto goal. Just three minutes later, the crowd of 7,000 – a record for a Baltic League fixture – witnessed Tomas Miklinevičius double Kaunas' advantage.

Two dismissals
Both teams were then reduced to ten men just past the hour mark when Skonto's Aleksandrs Cauna and Kaunas' Kestutis Ivaškevičius were dismissed. Skonto continued to press, but their only response was a penalty six minutes from time from substitute Vladimir Dvališhvili. "I'm not ashamed of this result," said Skonto coach Paul Ashworth. "I accept the responsibility for this defeat, but we did our best. It is pity that we could not make our fans happy."

Confidence booster
"I am happy with the team's performance," said Kaunas coach Andrei Zygmantovich, whose side succeed SK Liepājas Metalurgs as champions. "This win can raise our confidence before decisive games in the Lithuanian Championship."
