Sporting Clube de Portugal secured their seventh Portuguese Super Cup as they beat champions FC Porto 2-0 at the Estádio Algarve with two goals from Yannick Djaló.

Romagnoli assist
The match had a frantic start as both teams created chances in the opening half. Fábio Rochemback had an effort on goal in the 19th minute but the Brazilian's powerful free-kick went wide of the post before Porto responded when Lucho González's shot from outside the box struck the post. With one minute to the interval, the Lions scored the first goal of the match when fine work from Leandro Romagnoli on the right presented Djaló with a goal from the centre of the area.

Penalty miss
In the second half, Djaló had another chance thwarted by goalkeeper Hélton but he was not to be denied in the 56th minute after clever play from Marat Izmailov on the left-hand side. Raul Meireles's shot just evaded the target before Porto spurned a glorious chance to respond in the 70th minute when Lucho González missed a penalty kick after a handball from Marco Caneira. The victory was Sporting's second consecutive one in the competition – with both successes earned against Porto.
