'I need stability'
The 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Le Mans, has signed a four-year deal with the Ligue 1 side, with the terms of the transfer undisclosed. "I need stability and Le Mans give me this," he said. Gérard Houllier brought Le Tallec to Anfield from AC Le Havre in 2003 along with Florent Sinama-Pongolle, but he has was subsequently farmed out to AS Saint-Etienne, Sunderland AFC and FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, only ever making five Premier League starts for the Reds.
Thomas returns
Le Mans have also brought defensive midfielder Frédéric Thomas back to the club following a two-year stint at AJ Auxerre. The 27-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at the club, has signed a four-year contract and said: "I feel like I'm back home and am very glad to team up with these guys again." Le Mans' Ligue 1 season kicks off at home against FC Lorient on 9 August.
