McDonald commits future to Celtic

Scott McDonald has signed a new five-year contract with Scottish champions
Celtic FC. The 24-year-old Australia striker, whose previous deal was due to expire in June 2010, will now remain a Celtic player until 2013.

'Very grateful'
McDonald joined the Glasgow club last summer from Motherwell FC and enjoyed a fruitful campaign in front of goal, scoring 25 times in the league as Celtic won the title for the third successive season. "It was a very successful season for myself personally, and for the club to finish the way it did was fantastic," McDonald told Celtic's website. "I am very grateful to Celtic for giving me this new deal. I am over the moon about it, because I still had another two years with an optional year still on my contract."
