The 25-year-old, who has scored four times in 74 appearances for Karpaty, has joined Mircea Lucescu's side on undisclosed terms in a deal which also sees Shakhtar goalkeeper Bohdan Shust and defender Denys Kozhanov join the Lviv side on loan. Shaktar have paid €2m for a 60 per cent share of Ishchenko's registration, with Karpaty president Petro Dimynskiy saying: "I am sure Mykola will soon be a Ukraine international regular like another one of our old trainees, Dmytro Chygrynskiy, who move to Donetsk before him. That will be a success we share in too." Shakhtar will start their 2008/09 UEFA Champions League campaign in the third qualifying round.
