Pellegrini impressed
The 27-year-old, capped nine times by Uruguay, joined Villarreal in a temporary move from the Swedish side in January and impressed manager Manuel Pellegrini in his 15 Primera División games for the club, aiding them to a second-place finish and a guaranteed 2008/09 UEFA Champions League group stage berth. Eguren has seven minutes' experience of that competition when he made a substitute appearance in December 2005 at Olympique Lyonnais for Rosenborg BK, his first European club after leaving Montevideo Wanderers FC.
