A lone Stanislav Manolev goal was sufficient to defeat PFC Cherno More Varna in the Bulgarian Cup final and ensure UEFA Cup football next season for PFC Litex Lovech.
'Very proud'
The only goal arrived 56 minutes in at the Vassil Levski Stadium in Sofia when a free-kick from Brazilian midfielder Wellington was headed in by the unmarked Manolev, Litex's match-winner in the semi-final defeat of PFC Botev Plovdiv. The victory was Litex's third in the competition, having previously triumphed in 2001 and 2004. "We deserved the win," said Manolev. "I am very proud of what we have achieved. I score the goal because of the team and the win is because of my team-mates."
UEFA Cup entrants
Litex, who were knocked out of this season's UEFA Cup in the first round by Hamburger SV, will be joined in the competition by A PFG runners-up PFC Levski Sofia and PFC Lokomotiv Sofia, who occupy third place. The league concludes on Saturday.
