Mogren on the spot to lift Montenegrin Cup

FK Mogren won the first trophy in their history by defeating Prva Crnogorska leaders FK Budućnost Podgorica 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the Montenegrin Cup final. 

Late leveller
Buoyed by home advantage, Budućnost Podgorica made the more enterprising start and missed several chances to open the scoring before Petar Vukčević broke the dealock with a shot from the edge of the penalty area after 53 minutes. However, Mogren equalised six minutes from time when Vladimir Gluščević found Ratko Zec, whose header proved too good for goalkeeper Miroslav Vujadinovic.

Sudden death
And so to spot-kicks where Budućnost Podgorica forward Fatos Beciraj missed in the sixth round of attempts, which left Nikola Vujovic to convert the winning penalty. "We've worked hard all season and this is our reward," said Mogren coach Dejan Vukićević. "We are very happy, but also a little bit sad because we could have done more in league [Mogren are third]. But the most important thing is that we will compete in Europe and I think we could do good things on the international stage."

Championship chance
Budućnost Podgorica coach Branko Babić was philosophical in defeat, saying: "This is football. Sometimes you lose, sometimes you win. It is not easy to forget, but we must concentrate on the title race. We have a three-point advantage and a good chance to become a champions."
