AEK Athens FC have signed Swedish international defender Daniel Majstorovic from FC Basel 1893.

The 31-year-old has left the Swiss champions to join Greek club AEK on a three-year contract. He said: "AEK are a famous club who compete for the title every season. My aim in coming here is to win the league and then to play in the UEFA Champions League."
UEFA Cup
Majstorovic will have to make do with the UEFA Cup next term after AEK finished second behind Panathinaikos FC in the Super League's end-of-season play-offs for European qualification. The former Malmö FF and FC Twente centre-back has been capped 14 times by Sweden and is expected to represent his country at UEFA EURO 2008™. He leaves double winners Basel after scoring 23 goals in 85 games. Sweden will face Greece in their opening group match at the EURO.
