Ticket sales situation for the UEFA Cup match between 1. FC Nürnberg and Everton FC.
Article body
UEFA has issued information clarifying the situation regarding ticket sales for the UEFA Cup Group A match between 1. FC Nürnberg and Everton FC at the Frankenstadion in Nuremberg, Germany, on Thursday. This follows various media reports on the matter.
Visiting fans
European football's governing body said it wished to emphasise that it is not UEFA that sells the tickets, but the home club. Visiting fans should always buy their tickets via their own club.
Consultation
During online ticket sales undertaken by Nürnberg for Thursday's game, a bug in the system enabled some English supporters to buy tickets allocated in the Nürnberg fans' sectors. Consequently, following consultation with the police, Nürnberg decided to withdraw those applications and inform those online buyers that their online reservations were no longer applicable. English supporters were asked to contact Everton to buy their tickets.
No issue between clubs
At the moment, Nürnberg have provided 2,800 tickets to Everton (more than the stipulated 5 per cent in the regulations – which would have been 2,350 tickets based on the 47,000 capacity). The clubs are happy with the allocation and are co-operating fully with each other. There has been no issue between the clubs. Nürnberg are aware that some fans will travel to Nuremberg without tickets, but have already planned measures for this eventuality.
