Article body
Italy boosted their hopes in UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ qualifying Group 2 as two late goals gave them victory in Hungary.
Lead cancelled out
The Azzurre had lost to Sweden but beaten the Republic of Ireland in their previous fixtures while Hungary had one point from three games. It took Italy until the 58th minute to break the deadlock through Roberta Dadda but Hungary levelled 12 minutes later when Fanni Vágó was tripped in the box and although Anita Pádár's penalty was saved she scored on the rebound.
Win secure
Hungary were only level for seven minutes, however, as the experienced Patrizia Panico restored the lead and Alessia Tuttino secured the points with three minutes left. Italy will hope to join Sweden and Ireland on nine points after Wednesday's visit of Romania. Hungary return to action on 23 April at home against Ireland but will be without Aranka Paraoánu and Györgyi Sebestyén who retired from international football after today’s game.
