Académica sever ties with Machado

A. Académica de Coimbra have parted company with coach Manuel Machado after picking up just one point from their first three Liga games this season. The 51-year-old had been in charge for 16 months. A club statement read: "Académica thank Manuel Machado for his time and the professional honesty which he has always shown." Académica will now seek a new coach until the end of the season.
