Tamudo goal banishes Glasgow memory

RCD Espanyol overturned their UEFA Cup final loss to Sevilla FC as a late Raúl Tamudo goal helped them get the upper hand in a five-goal Primera División thriller.

RCD Espanyol gained some kind of revenge on Sevilla FC for their defeat in last season's UEFA Cup final as a Raúl Tamudo goal three minutes from time helped them to a 3-2 victory in the Primera División.

Espanyol joy
Espanyol, who were beaten on penalties in Glasgow in May, took the lead at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium when Ángel Martínez found the net on 28 minutes. Eight minutes into the second half it was 2-0 as Luis García scored and it was only then that Sevilla came to life as an own goal from Marc Torrejón (60) and an Arouna Kone strike (68) pulled them level. It would be the visitors' day, however, as Tamudo pounced to claim three points that moved Espanyol above their opponents into fifth in the table. The defeat was Sevilla's third in seven days following the UEFA Champions League reverse against Arsenal FC and a 2-1 loss to FC Barcelona on Saturday.
