Happy memories
Hope Powell's side are in their first global finals for 12 years in China, tackling Germany on Friday, and in their bid to reach Finland in summer 2009 they have already defeated Northern Ireland 4-0. They last played in Walsall prior to hosting the 2005 European finals and beat the Czech Republic 3-1, with local girl Rachel Unitt scoring twice in front of 6,869 fans. Powell, whose team count the Czech Republic among their Group 1 opponents as well as Belarus, Northern Ireland and Spain, said: "The profile of the women's game continues to increase and with the World Cup televised at home, we hope to have made many more fans who will hopefully come out and support us on our return."
