Juventus have signed Portugal centre-back Jorge Andrade from RC Deportivo La Coruña for a fee that will rise to €10m.
Three-year deal
The 29-year-old, who has already trained with the Turin side after passing his medical last week, has agreed a contract until 2010 with the Bianconeri. The former FC Porto defender, who joined Deportivo in 2001, played 22 games in the Primera Division last season.
'Great step'
“This is a great step forward for me,” Andrade said. “I have already played for important teams during my career but Juventus are considered a giant of world football for the tradition, the history and the titles. Everyone is really motivated at the club. We want to show that Juventus are still at the top both at national and international level.”
New faces
Andrade, capped 50 times by his country, is Juventus's sixth major signing this summer after defender Zdenek Grygera, midfielders Tiago, Sergio Bernardo Almirón and Hasan Salihamidžić and striker Vincenzo Iaquinta. The Bianconeri, who have also appointed a new coach in Claudio Ranieri, are back in Italy's top flight after promotion as Serie B champions.
